Prospective Members Information
We are based in the Groton/ New London/ Mystic area of Connecticut, on the coast midway between New York and Boston. Our members come from many communities in the area due to proximity to Interstate 95. If you play a musical instrument, please consider joining the one of the three bands under the umbrella of the Noank Mystic Community Band, a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization. Auditions are not required for any of the bands and all rehearse and perform year-round. Anyone is welcome to attend a rehearsal and sit in with the band or simply listen. We welcome people of all ages into all our bands. The three bands are described below.
Noank-Mystic Concert Band

School-age musicians are welcome to participate at any time. The band rehearses on Wednesdays 7:00-9:00 PM at the Groton City Municipal Building, 295 Meridian St, Groton, CT 06340.

"As Time Goes By"
This band performs music from the swing era as well as more modern jazz. The band often plays original arrangements which are challenging and typically call for a set instrumentation (four trumpets, four trombones, five saxes, piano, bass, guitar, drums, vocalist). Although we normally perform with a set number of players, we welcome additional people at rehearsals and we routinely substitute players for performances. The band rehearses on Thursdays 7:00-9:00 PM at Thrive 55+ Active Living Center (formerly Groton Senior Center) 102 Newtown Road, Groton, CT 06340.
